06 July 2006 - Early in the morning, the ferry 'Norröna' entered the long, calm and deep fjord of Seyðisfjörður, wiggling 17 kilometres before ending at the head of the fjord in the village of the same name. Finally arrived.
In Iceland, as long as it doesn't rain, weather has to be considered excellent. A good start for a long drive along the south coastline up to Skaftafell, Iceland's second largest National Park after Þingvellir. The remote but attractive part of the south is dominated by glaciers and has distinctive natural attractions of scenic beauty.
The midnight sun extends the day almost the whole night long. So we ended up raising our tent at 12:00 p.m., but judging from the daylight, it could have been late afternoon. Hard to say goodnight...
