(5) Ruins of Liefrange

{short description of image}{short description of image}Description {short description of image}{short description of image}How to dive it?

{short description of image}

Dive: From Liefrange, close to the dam of Bavigne, use the parking area along the road. Go down the slope to access the water between the parking area and the dam.

  • GPS water access waypoint: N49° 54.373' E5° 52.248' (LIEFR2)
  • dive 270° straight into the lake, you will cross an old road with a small wall on the side, which you have to follow by turning right for several meters to the direction of the dam
  • go down to the bottom where the left side wall of the road is slightly damaged and you will head the first bridge
  • from here dive again 270° to explore the second bridge, dive under it and follow the wall on your left side
  • after a while, the wall turns to the left, continue following it and you will face a small tunnel you cannot enter
  • pass over it and dive 270° further to the opposite slope, but once you notice another little wall, turn left and continue it on your left side, a few more meters and you face the basement entry (but too dangerous to enter!)
  • possibility now to dive 90° back and once you reach the slope, turn right and follow it for a while during your ascent to return to the water entry point or you continue until the dam and return in shallow waters along the side of the slope

Note: There is another possibility to dive this site by using the parking area after the dam and climbing down with you diving equipment a steep slope to access the water, GPS water access waypoint: N49° 54.424' E5° 52.175' (LIEFR3). From this place, exploring the site is a bit more easily as you can follow the site spots one by one in a loop without missing one. You just dive the other way round as described before.
